Library Director
Shannon Putney serves as the Director of Iowa’s Carter Lake Public Library. Approaching 15 years of library experience, Shannon has led efforts and administered programs in two states, spanning the public library and public-school library systems.
A champion for positively impacting the lives of others, Shannon is committed to positioning the library as a foundational partner with the community. She believes in inspiring a culture supportive of creative expression where everyone feels valued, respected, appreciated, and heard.
She has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO), holds a certification in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from the University of South Florida, and holds a Level III-L certification from the Nebraska Library Commission, while proudly serving as a member of the UNO Library Science Advisory Board.

Board Of Trustees
The Carter Lake Public Library is governed by the Board of Library Trustees and is comprised of 7 members who are appointed by the Mayor and are confirmed by City Council. Each member serves a six-year term. As defined in the Board By-laws, the primary duties of the Board include:

Serves as a liaison between the library and the community

Acts as a policy-making board

Assists in budget preparation

Oversees proper allocation of budget

Responsible for the appointment of the library director
Board meetings are held on the second Monday of the month at 4:30 pm at the Library.
