How to Get aLibrary Card

Getting a Library Card

Any Iowa resident can get a FREE library card with us. Your card will give you access to all of the library's resources including databases, books, movies, and more! To register for a library card, a photo ID is needed with a current permanent address. If your photo ID doesn't have your current address you will need to bring one of the following:

  • Utility Bill that is in your name
  • Car Registration
  • Government Assistant Letter
  • Bank Statement or Checkbook
  • Or any official mail from the government addressed to you

Not an Iowa Resident? No Problem!

If you live outside of Iowa you can purchase a library card for a $35 yearly fee and bring the required ID. This will give you access to our physical collection and digital. You don't need a library card to enjoy our programs or use our space. It's just if you want to check out any items.

What can you do with your Library Card?
