Little Free Seed Library and Veggie Swap/Pantry

The Little Free Seed Library provides free seeds to residents to promote lifelong learning and encourage stewardship of natural resources. The Seed Library is available during open hours for patrons of all ages!

  • There is no cost to borrow seeds.

  • There is a limit of five (5) seed packets per month per household.

  • Please log what you’ve taken in our seed log booklet.

  • You are not required to return any saved seeds to The Library, but may if you wish! We may accept donated seeds but prefer clean, open-pollinated, or heirloom seeds.

Please share your gardening success when using seeds from the Seed Library! Tag @carterlakelibrary wherever you post!

Wanna see a seed here we don’t have? Add your wants to our wishlist located near the seed log.

At the CLPL Veggie Swap, help yourself! Take what you can use, bring what you can not: share with your neighbor!

Please make sure donations are washed and properly contained (if needed) before adding to the swap fridge/container on top of the fridge.

During the winter months, the Veggie Swap converts into a little free pantry!

  • Please leave mostly non-perishable, unopened, unexpired items when donating

  • Check with a librarian before leaving something perishable

  • Use common sense when donating; if children shouldn't have it, please don't put it in the pantry

  • Personal hygiene product donations/baby products are welcome as well

  • Take what you need: Please remember that the little pantry belongs to us all and take only those items you need, trusting the little pantry will be here for you again
